| | Twin Towers Middle School visit, Middletown, NY

Our seven volunteers presented an enrichment program at Twin Towers Middle School in Middletown. Their 7th and 8th graders have been studying about Japan throughout this school year. 43 students listened to our brief introduction of Japan and Kamishibai Paper theater of our original Tomiko's story and learned Origami folding of jumping frogs and Calligraphy of the word, Yume Dream . The students surprised us at the end with a reception, which they prepaared with homemade Japanese fried rice and Dorayaki Pancake like sweets filled with red bean paste. Japanese sweets and tea were also served. We had a great time! | | ミドルタウンのツインタワー中学校学校訪問

7人のボランティアがミドルタウンにあるツインタワー中学校を訪れました。今年1年にわたり、日本の勉強を続けている7、８年生のクラス43人たちに折り紙や習字を実演しました。人気のある”蛙”の折り紙を跳ばす競争では生徒たちは声を上げて楽しんでいました。紙芝居では、MHJCAオリジナルの”そのとき私は13才”(会員のMrs. Tomiko Morimoto Westの被爆体験の話し)を披露することができたのは喜びでした。
最後に生徒たちの手作りの焼き飯、どら焼きなどの日本の食べ物が用意され、思わぬ待遇に感謝しました。 | |
