| | Visiting J.V. Forrestal Elementary School
It was the eighth visiting to this school.
It was 90 minutes program this time and was 30 minutes shorter than previous one.
It was the same Mrs. Salvas' class and was a little small 18 pupils of 3rd grade.
There were only five volunteers available which was minimum for the following program
and at least a couple more would have been needed if possible.

Same as usual, all volunteers were busy to support others all through the program.
For the calligraphy theme, we used "SENSEI" in HIRAGANA and also kids own name in KATAKANA
however I have an impression that there were too many letters to learn at once for the first timer children.
Actually I noticed that there was not enough time to remember for kids how to write all letters in
only one time 30 minutes program. I understand that simple one or two KANJI letters would be better for this program.
I'm sure we could successfully accomplished our own mission today and we have experienced again that "Teaching is Learning".
We thank again Mrs. Salvas to provide us with such exciting opportunities over the last several years and at the very end of
the program today, we found that Mrs. Salvas will be staying there another five years more that will be great for us all.
I also thank to all volunteers above to make this program successful again this time.
Project Leader : Shinichi Honda | | 今回は８回目の同校訪問でした。
今回は９０分のプログラムで何時もより３０分短くなりました。
例年通りMrs. Salvas の３年生の１８名で, 少しばかり小さなクラスでした。
今回はボランティアが５人しか集まらず、以下のプログラムの為には最小のチームになりましたが、出来れば後２人位はほしいところです。何時もの事ですがボランティアの方々はチーム・ワークで最後まで動き詰めです。
お習字の題材は今回はひらがなの "せんせい" と子供達の自分の名前のカタカナを
選びましたが、私個人の印象としては始めて日本語の、しかもお習字を経験する子供達にとっては字数が多すぎましたね！３０分の最後の清書の時に, まだ字を覚えていないので戸惑っている子供達が多かったのに気がつきました。むしろ比較的簡単な漢字を１～２字しっかり練習させた方が良いと思います。
今回も成功裏にプログラムを終える事が出来たと確信しています、また”教える事は
学ぶ事”であると再度経験した様に思えます。
Salvas 先生には過去何年もこのプログラムの為の機会を作って下さって本当に感謝しています。また今日の最後になってSalvas 先生が更に５年間お勤めが伸びた事が解りました。これはMHJCAにとって大変素晴らしい事です。皆様にご報告して置きます。
