| | A NODATE and potluck event was held at Mori's on October 4, Saturday.
NODATE, in Japanese, means a field tea ceremony which is to be held outdoors.
Despite the sunny week, the day we planned the event was rained out, unfortunately.
Without being discouraged, we made a field tea ceremony set up in a room
with red carpet and cardinal-red parasol to capture the feeling of being outside.
Guests wearing Kimonos and Hakamas especially for this event added extra color
to the occasion.
We had an American special guest, HOBAI san who has studied Buddhism and the Way of Tea for
many years. We were impressed
with his seamless flow of making, and serving tea for more than a dozen guests.
We sensed his warm and engaging hospitality.
And how tasteful the tea was!
The potluck after the ceremony was out-done with tasty and artistically decorated variety of dishes.
Exciting conversation brought new members to MHJCA through this event.
The event was concluded with a mini-market of Japanese vegetables, antiques, and tea ceremony items.
Part of the sales were donated to the MHJCA.

Atsuko | | １０月４日（土)、エレンビレの森さん宅で野点とポットラックの集いが開かれました。
晴天続きの中、この時だけ雨という日でしたが、めげずに部屋の中での茶会に変更。
野点用の傘をしつらえ，緋毛氈を敷き野点の雰囲気を出しました。
着物、袴、とこの茶会のために装った人々で一層華やかさをかもし出しておりました。
今回は特別ゲストで出席なさった，法梅（ほうばい）さんもお茶を立ててくださいました。
アメリカ人ながら、長い事お茶の修行も、お坊さんの修行もなさった方です。
彼の自然体で、人を包み込むような暖かな美しいお手前に、皆さん感動していました。
そして、その薄茶の美味しかった事！！
初めて、茶会を経験された方も、雨の音もいいですねと、皆さんそれぞれ楽しまれたようです。
茶会後のお待ちかねのポットラックはいつもながら圧巻で、種種な料理が並び、皆の
目と舌を十分に満足させてくれました。あちらこちらで会話も弾み、親交も深まり
これを期に２組の方々が会員になられました。
この催しの最後は会員によるミニマーケットです。
野菜やら、日本の骨董、茶道具などが売り出され、皆さんそれぞれ物色して
買い物を楽しまれました。この売り上げの一部はMHJCAに寄付されました。
