| | Our Annual Meeting was held at Poughkeepsie Galleria community room with 14 attendance including 11 voting members while 16 proxies out of the 36 membership voting count was received. With that, we had confirmed 27 members to satisfy the quorum required by the By-Laws, Article VI – Section 1, according to our Secretary.
Following the 2015’s Financial Report by our Treasurer to which received no questions, we officially announced the changes we proposed with respects to our By-Laws and had been approved as follows:
1) Amended Article VI – Section 1 Board of Directors: The Board is responsible for overall policy and direction of the corporation. The Board shall have up to 9 and not fewer than 2 members. The Board receives no compensation other than reasonable expenses.
2) Added Article IX – Section 1 Dissolution: The dissolution of corporation shall be conducted in pursuant to the law defined by the New York State Not-for-Profit Corporation Law, Section 1003.

In addition, we had an open discussion regarding the “Advertisement Email and Fees” in which some members brought up opinions such as;
· Only corporate members should be allowed ads
· OPTOUT choice could be included in email when sent out from our Group-mail
· Corporate members should be waived such fees
· Appropriate fees can be set as needed
· Maximum amount a NPO allowed to earn from such fees would be $50,000
This particular subject is still pending but hopefully will be decided soon. All opinions from members will be carefully considered when reviewed by the Board in the future meeting.

Our future as a community group is bright since our reputation is growing more than ever and thus it seems more inquiries for our cultural program is coming in. Your contribution in any form will always be very much appreciated.
Following our Annual Meeting, we had a special DVD premiere, “Tomiko’s Story – Hiroshima Survivor”. Yes, it was about a story of our member, Tomiko-san, who was born and raised in Hiroshima. After her horrific experience during atomic bomb when she tragically lost her family but miraculously survived, she found a new life with Mel-san to whom she married. It was absolutely sad yet heartwarming story as it would give you a peace at the end. While we could never imagine the true horror and devastation she experienced, we are bound to tell to others, especially new generations, together that this is our, ALL HUMAN’s, history and we must make sure this would never be repeated. This film was created by a Japanese photo journalist, Mr. Yusaku Kanagawa, and the original title was not disclosed due to his public debut planned in the near future. So we were extremely honored to be given the opportunity to preview this special story to share with Tomiko-san and the world.
After taking a brief break, we held a seminar for Medicare Q&A, as a part of our senior program started last year. As more and more Japanese living in NY, not necessarily all citizens but many are permanent resident, reaching senior age don’t go back to Japan to live the rest of their lives surrounded by relatives and under much better healthcare systems, more education programs needed than ever, it seems, to provide with Medicare information. So, that was the main reason this seminar was intended, for information and education purposes. In addition, we wanted to add something to attract members along with our Annual Meeting because majority people seem to avoid anything too formal or boring such as “meeting”... Nevertheless, there were 12 people attended and brought up many questions throughout the entire 2 hours.

年の総会がギャラリアのコミュニティールームで14名の会員により行われました。セクレタリーの確認によると36名の選挙権のあるメンバーのうち11名が参加、16名が代行依頼を提出したので結果的には合計27名ということで会則内の条項No. VI セクション1の規定を守ったことになります。
まず会計係から2015年度経理レポートが報告され特には質問はありませんでした。その後会則において役員会で話し合った下記の変更内容を提案し無事承諾されました。
1) 条項No.VI - セクション1「役員」における項目を次に変更：「役員は全体的なきまりと会の運営方向において責任があること。役員は最低2名から最高9名までで構成されること。役員は掛かったコスト以外の手当てをもらってはいけないこと。」
2) 条項No.IX – セクション1 「解散」における項目を次の内容にて追加：「会を解散する際はニューヨーク州ノンプロフィットコーポレーション法の項目1003に基づいて遂行されること。」
昨年度の経理レポートを見たい方はEmailにてその旨リクエスト下さい。
上記の後「広告と広告費」において会員から考えを求めた結果下記の意見が出ました：
· コーポレート会員のみ広告を許可するべき。
· グループメールで広告を会員に送った際「拒否が出来るチョイス」をメールに含めたらよい。
· コーポレート会員からは広告費を取らない。
· 広告費金額はその都度適応とされる数字を決めれば良い。
· ノンプロフィットとして広告費から売り上げとできるのは最高５万ドルまで。
この議題においてはまだ考慮中ですが、願わくば近いうちに結論を出す予定です。将来の役員会で皆さんからの意見を全て注意して検討したいと思います。
全ての役員会と総会で話し合った内容のレポートはご希望であれば提供しますので、その旨メールにてリクエスト下さい。会の人気は今まで以上に高く、益々カルチャープログラムの依頼が入ってきています。どのような形でも皆さんからのご協力を心から感謝致します。
DVD 初演とメディケアーセミナー
総会の後は「広島被爆者富子さんの語り話」DVDの初演。そうです、これはすさまじい原爆の経験の後メルさんと出会って新しい人生の道のりを見つけたMHJCAのメンバーで広島出身の富子さんの語りべです。とても悲しい中最後に平和の希望をあたえてくれるので心が温まるストーリーです。富子さんの経験は想像以上の残酷で恐ろしいものですが、私達はこれを全人類の歴史として他の人たち、特に子供達に、伝えていくことによって二度とこの様な悲劇を繰り返さない様にするべきです。このフィルムは金川雄作氏の作で近い将来一般向けにデビューする予定であることからオリジナルのタイトルは出されませんでした。それゆえになおさらのこと、富子さんとそれから全世界とシェアーできるこの特別な機会を与えてもらえたことを本当に光栄だと思います。
短い休憩を入れた後、次にメディケアーの質問会をしました。これは昨年から始めたシニアー用プログラムのひとつです。全ての方が市民になっているわけではありませんが、残りの人生を親戚に囲まれて安心できる医療保険のある日本に戻らない永住権を持った日本人が益々増えてきている為、メディケアーに関するインフォメーションを提供する機会がもっと必要となってきたようです。それが主な理由で今回の教育目的のセミナーを催しました。同時に結構多くの方々が「ミーティング」と名のつくものは退屈または難し過ぎると感じるせいか総会になかなか出てこないので、ちょっと興味をもたせるものを追加してみました。お蔭さまで12名の参加者が2時間のセミナーの間沢山の質問を出していました。
