| | Tanka Workshop / Fall ‘21
The most recent Tanka Workshop was held at the Poughkeepsie Galleria community room on Nov. 14.
The title of the Tanka was ”deru” (the kanji meaning “to leave”). Members were asked to consider variations of this popular word, like “exit” and “departure”.
Most members felt this title would be very easy, but they found out later it was not as easy as they had first thought. So, that means they might have had a good practice session!
After the Tanka workshop, we were able to have a little tea party to celebrate being able to stay safe from the Coronavirus. Now we must worry about the Omicron variant that is beginning!
I pray that we will be able to enjoy our next Tanka workshop in good health!!

Covid-19の終息もなきまま2年近くも経ちましたが、「短歌ワークショップ」のメンバーが元気に集いあえる事は素晴らしいと思います。今回もPoughkeepsie のCommunity Roomでの開催でした。
歌題は' 出、しゅつ、で'とし、出発、出口、出現などの熟語も使用して独自の視点で詠って頂きました。'出'という語はとてもポピュラーで日常的に使用しますから、最初は簡単な歌題と思われた様でしたが、実際は短歌にするのが難しかったと皆さんの意見でした。改めて日常語の大切さを実感して頂ければ大成功です。
ワークショップ後の'茶チャット会'も楽しく皆さんの無事を喜び合いました。現在、新変体のOmicronが蔓延し始めましたのが、皆さん今後もお元気で次回の「短歌ワークショップ」でお会いできます様に。
