Tanka Workshop

This is the 6th year since first Tanka Workshop started, and the spring session was held at the Mori's on March 27. As it is now our standard class procedure, all the nine (9) participants were given a booklet bound with printed Tanka poems previously submitted by each participant to read out and receive the Instructor's opinion and advise. Today, we studied one of the rhetoric, metaphor or figurative expression, which is a very important part of composing Tanka as it'd make a significant impact on the poem. While using other "figurative" object, it is not so much expressing theoretically or explaining the details of the other material, but rather using the impression of the figurative object to adopt it in your phrase in order to create the atmosphere or feeling effectively. By the energy in the class, it was no doubt that all of the students will improve their skill within a year or so. After the session it was the favorite snack time for everyone to enjoy chit-chatting and laughing all together.
