Event Description
Marlboro Free Library Calligraphy
There are different types of culture program we usually provide: demonstration, classroom style and workshop. This time we were called for a hands-on calligraphy workshop in casual style.
There were 20 participants signed up for today’s workshop for which we brought 5 volunteers including 4 instructors and 1 photographer. Although it’s not a formal classroom style in which we would spend time teaching basic writing techniques and Japanese language, it is always important we would include them, though briefly, at the beginning of workshop. We also make sure to let know the participants they are not just writing foreign language but also it is a form of art; in black and white, with brush and paper. It’s simple, yet you’d find beauty in lines and space, and each writer’s character. It felt the 1.5 hours workshop ended very quick as everyone had enjoyed experiencing the beauty in calligraphy.
We’d like to thank to Lindsay Jankovits and Marlboro Free Library for giving us the opportunity to meet those fun-loving participants.
