Event Description
Calligraphy Workshop 2
5/7/23 Calligraphy Workshop No. 2 at Poughkeepsie Galleria
This time, we had a small group of participants so I was able to spend more time explaining the technical parts in detail. The kanji selected to practice during this session was one that is a traditional symbol of a spring flower in Japan: sakura (cherry blossoms).
While it is a rather difficult word to write since it’s easy to lose the overall balance when adding the last portion of the character (“woman”), everyone seemed to enjoy the challenge. It’s always nice to see how each one’s technique has improved by the end of the session.
I look forward to the next workshop when we might see more challenging characters.
