International Food Festival
February 2023 International Food Fest
MHJCA volunteers prepared a food sample table at the International Food Fest at Adriance Memorial Library in Poughkeepsie on Saturday, February 25, 2023. We brought delicious homemade sushi for library visitors to sample.
About 340 people attended the festival, sampling foods from Japan as well as Germany, China, Ukraine, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. We also brought flyers of information to spread the word about our group and generate interest in membership.
Many people complimented the sushi – perhaps they will attend the sushi-making class scheduled for June! It was great to be out on a snowy day and meet so many neighbors and friends as they enjoyed great food samples from around the world.
Many thanks to our volunteers who helped prepare the food, set up our display, and provided support before, during and after the event: Atsuko (the sushi chef), Yoko, Toyoo, Georgia, Midori, Masashi, and Chikako. We hope to return next year!
