Calligraphy Workshop No 1
2/11/24 Calligraphy Workshop #1
Today, we had our first Calligraphy workshop this year at the Poughkeepsie Galleria Community Room. Though it was meant to be the First Writing of the New Year, some participants chose letters or characters about the upcoming spring season rather than resolutions for the New Year, which is what we typically recommend for Kakizome.
Regardless, I realized that through someone else’s writings or drawings, we can see and feel nature differently in the form of their expression or impression of seasons. Sometimes it’s like you’re discovering something for the first time. It was very exciting and I hope to see more at the next workshop. Today’s participants were all experienced and their writing improved within a limited time. It was impressive.
