Our History
The Mid-Hudson Japanese Community Association, Inc. (MHJCA), a not-for-profit 501c3 organization, was created in 2001 by individuals, families, professionals, and corporations from the Mid-Hudson Valley region of upstate New York. The MHJCA’s activities are organized and performed on a voluntary basis by our members. Membership is open to those of any culture and ancestry. MHJCA has been offering enrichment programs to local communities including schools and public libraries since 2005. We share our knowledge with local people through demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and educational presentations, to introduce the beauty and heritage of Japanese arts and culture, including the important elements of Japanese philosophy and spirituality. The mission of MHJCA is to help create a bridge for local people, especially new generations, to connect to Japan and its unique and extraordinary culture.
